In this chapter, Dickon finally locates Selena in the forest where she, standing naked and ready, apparently prepares to conduct a ritual that will turn all women to lesbians and doom humanity. Eventually, our hero succeeds in seducing the new Queen by invading her mind and morphing her sexuality - yet as their brief and act of lovemaking comes to a close, the truth is finally revealed and Dickon learns that he has been played by powers beyond his control all along.
